About Us

Swim Cutz LLC is a family-run business, desiring to address a specific need within the competitive swimming community.

As former competitive swimmers, now swim parents, we understand that time standards are equal parts important and tedious. Although integral to understanding a swimmer's progression in the sport, time standards are not necessarily easy to find, arranged consistently, or easy to navigate on a mobile device.

To this we say:

  • "Ditch the laminated hardcopy spreadsheets"
  • "Stop pinching and dragging PDFs on your phone"
  • "There's a better way"

Our sport is hard; keeping track of time standards shouldn't be!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Swim Cutz app presents time standards in three fundamental groupings:

  1. National Standards
  2. Zone Standards
  3. State Standards

National standards include standards published by USA Swimming, the NCAA, NSCA, and AAU.

Zone Standards are managed by USA Swimming and apply to regional groups of Local Swimming Committees (LSCs).

State Standards are organized by LSCs. Most states include of multiple LSCs (e.g., Florida consists of 3 LSCs, one of which also covers Alabama).  Please use USA Swimming's LSC and Zone Websites page to determine your LSC, or ask your coach.

Swim Cutz makes every effort to ensure all information is up to date, backed by automated update monitoring. The app's home menu includes "Time Standard Sources", which provide a link to the source data, as well as its associated publication date when available.

In the event that you find an error, please report it via the "Contact Us" page from within the Swim Cutz app, accessible in the app's home menu.

Check the meet's list of events. If the event names include "yards", it's a short course yards pool. Additionally, if the 500, 1000, or 1650 freestyle is offered, it's a short course yards pool.

Conversely, if the 400, 800, or 1500 freestyle is offered, it's a meters pool.

Long course meter pools are far more common than short course meter pools; however, if the 100 meter Individual Medley or 25 meter events are offered, it's a short course meters pool.

Bottom line: when in doubt, ask your coach!
